According to the available reports, different sources have been proposed to supply energy to EV charging stations. In this study, experts selected four power sources according to the existing infrastructure in the study area and compared them with each other as follows: solar energy, OVES systems, wind turbine energy, and CHP systems.
Using the electricity distribution network of the power plant as a source of energy for charging stations has the advantages of energy cleanness and renewability (Z. Zhao et al., 2023). The use of this energy source does not cause any environmental pollution or emission of greenhouse gases.
According to global energy policies, for people to accept EVs, governments should quickly build fast charging stations and shorten the implementation time of these projects. Therefore, the completion time of the charging station project is another important factor that must be considered.
The main challenge of building charging stations is the uncertainty caused by the novelty of the problem and lack of experience. These stations are currently being developed worldwide but have been built only in developed countries such as the US, China, and Japan; therefore, little experience is available in developing countries.
Each energy storage unit is connected to the 35kV distribution unit of the booster station through a 35kV collector line and then boosted to 220kV via a 120MVA (220/35kV) transformer. The project is equipped with an energy management system (EMS) to receive grid dispatching commands and manage the charge and discharge of the energy storage system.
